The tackle is fairly easy to rig up, basically being an up and over rig with a float, bead and stop above the weight. To tie it you will need 3 beads, two stops, a float capable of suspending a two ounce weight, cascade swivel, ordinary (crane or berkeley) swivel, hook (or two hooks arranged wishbone style - see picture) and an impact shield.
Sea Fishing 4 Fun

Start by tying on a leader of 25 lbs breaking strain monofilament. It should be long enough to cope with the demands of the depth to be fished and have at least six feet over and above the maximum anticipated depth. (Work from high tide, not low.) Next slide on a bead, the float, another bead and then tie on a cascade swivel. To this should be tied a four foot length of leader material.

Slide on a stop, bead, impact swivel and weight. Tie on an ordinary swivel with a trace long enough to hang over the cascade swivel and drop back to the impact shield. Then, to its end, attach either a hook or pair of hooks arranged wishbone style with stops and beads to keep them apart. Tie on a stop above the float and set it to the required depth. Finally hang the trace over the cascade swivel and back to the impact shield, sliding it to the perfect position and securing it firmly in place with the stop. This will ensure that the hooks should release upon contact with the water. (You can see an expanded diagram of the tackle on the next page.)
