Torbay is a popular holiday destination with rich and varied fishing around its range of interesting coastline, which is why it is served by a number of fishing tackle shops. The biggest three, offering the largest selections, are Torbay Tackle, Tidal Tackle and Brixham Bait and Tackle but there are some slightly smaller shops, like Euro Angling, which are well worth visiting. In the case of some of the more tourist centred shops, the ranges these offer may appeal more to visiting or holiday anglers than your hardened enthusiast but, if you are like me, then you will probably enjoy browsing through all of the shops just to see what you can find!

Sometimes, when sea fishing is a little quiet, it can be nice to try something different, like coarse fishing at Town Parks, Paignton. Personally, I love fly fishing for carp!

There are several other shops in the area covered by the map, with Devon Angling Centre in Chillington (see special feature) probably being the biggest dedicated angling shop. Another local store well worth having a look at is Ashby's Easy Stores, which is found at East Charleton, Kingsbridge and can be contacted on 01548 531625. It has all the advantages of a convenience store - albeit a very large one - but also carries a large range of tackle and bait, including some at very good prices. It has a range of angling kayaks, wetsuits and other outdoor equipment which make it very interesting to visit. There is something for everyone, which is why we have put a link to its website opposite. There is also another shop in Kingsbridge - Anchor Sports - which carries a small amount of basic fishing tackle and bait.
