Our trip to Town Parks in Paignton started out well, with reasonable weather being a nice bonus. Plenty of children turned up and were soon fishing with a variety of rods and poles, all hoping for a big fish to make their morning special. Charlie Rorke, one of the most experienced youngsters there, was soon into fish with a variety of carp on leger and roach on the pole but he was not alone for long.

Brixham Bait & Tackle generously donated a rod and reel as a prize in a special event that Baywater Anglers staged for Highweek Community Primary and Nursery School, Newton Abbot.
A number of children from the school, most of whom had never been coarse fishing before, were taken to Town Parks for a grand day out.

He was soon joined by the other children, with every one of them catching fish over the course of the morning, all of them taken from the top lake that we were fishing. David Gardener caught a nice carp (see picture below) but most of the fish taken were roach with a few bream making the occasional appearance.

For bait, most of us stuck to maggots and sweetcorn but others put legered luncheon meat on the bottom with hair rigs, using meat coils to keep them on the hook. All in all it was a thoroughly enjoyable morning so thanks again to Brixham Bait & Tackle and Town Parks, Paignton, for helping the children to have a great deal of fun.
