Buzzer
Start by catching the thread a short way back from the eye and wrap it tightly down the shank to make a neat base layer.
Catch in a piece of green wire near to the bend of the hook.
Bend the wire back towards the eye and twist it around the shank in a spiral. Catch in the end and break off the waste by twisting. Build up a small head.
Tie in two pieces of red floss, tinsel or a small strip of the orange foil from a Doritos crisps packet.
Fold the two pieces of tinsel towards the eye of the hook to represent the wing casings. Trim off the tinsel and then tie off with the finishing tool.
Seal the buzzer with a couple of coats of clear varnish, which will not only help to protect the thread but will also more closely imitate the shine of the real insect casing.
