Start by trapping the thread, winding it back on itself and all the way down to the bend to make a nice, even base layer.

This fly is best fished with a steady retrieve or mixed up with occasional sharper pulls.
When sea fishing, strip it back fairly quickly to give the impression of a small baitfish.

Cut a bunch of marabou carefully from the spine of the feather and trap it next to the bend.

Tie on a piece of chenille or fritz for the body, pulling away a bit of wool from the end to leave the core exposed. This will be easier to trap.

Bring the thread up to right behind the eye, followed by the wool. Tie the wool off with the thread.

Add another chunk of marabou herl just in front of the wool body. Tie on a pair of eyes using figure of eight wrappings secured with an under and over loop at the end.
For a variation, tie some Krystal Flash in with the tail, especially in either gold or silver. This adds extra glint to the fly.
For sea fishing try using all white or all red feathers and body. Use gold Krystal Flash with the red and silver with the white.

All white flies are great for pollack but use lead or metal eyes to give extra weight to the fly.
All red flies are taken by herring but use small plastic eyes to keep the flies near the surface where the herring will be feeding.
